PURPOSE:
Unlike the diversity of insects, flowers and birds displayed in my other galleries, there is not a great diversity of deer and elk in my area.  All I've ever seen here are Black-tailed Deer and American Elk, so identification is easy - if it looks like a deer, it's a Mule Deer - if it looks like an elk, it's an American Elk.

PHOTOGRAPHIC LOCATIONS, DATES AND CAMERA SETTINGS:
- While Vi and I have occasionally seen elk grazing on the hillside across the valley, we see the deer almost daily; several live in the overgrowth of trees behind the house, and all deer images were taken in and about the yard.  Thankfully, the elk don't hang out with them.  Elk get as big as horses, and though they may not be mean-spirited, they seem to have no problem being a bit overly aggressive.  The elk images were taken (from a safe distance) at the Dean Creek Elk preserve, just east of Reedsport, OR.

- The date each photograph was taken appears under each thumbnail image.

- Camera settings for each image are presented on the enlargement page for that image.  To view an enlargement, click the thumbnail image you wish to see enlarged.
